A legit three hours that didn't seem that long. Thumbs up from the Flynn family.

Spoiler:
Likes:
Fat Thor. It was a good sight gag that held up through the whole thing.
Iron Man's death was well done. As good as could be expected, I guess.
The reappearance of the rest of the heroes after Thanos' snap was undone. My theater was only 70% full but the applause was loud.
The lady who brought 5 kids (and a baby in her arms) to the Saturday 11am showing of Endgame. Huge respect. This is the showtime for them and they *geeked* on it.

Dislikes:
Pepper Potts in a super suit.
Dr. Strange's gestures look silly.
The use of small-scale heroes in these cosmic battles. Black Widow, Black Panther, Hawkeye, and Spiderman don't really belong in space fighting Titans.

This is a spoiler-filled thread.

Thumbs up from the Johnsons.

Amelia and I were pumped. We sat down and made predictions two weeks ago. We got done right, some wrong.

Allison hated Fat Thor. Went on and on and on about it after the movie. I think it was when she said it a fourth time in front of our girls that I brought up body positivity and fat-shaming and asked what if I had been one and on about how Black Widow got fat. She acknowledged my point but still wouldn't let go. I think she had been really looking forward to some Hemsworth. I guess I need to rent that racecar movie for her.

Loved so much of it. My big moment was Tony's "Yeah, but I'm Iron Man". Such good writing. In character, impactful,. devastating, and a callback to the very beginning (2008). Loved it.

To Nathan's point, I thought the big women assemble thing was a bit much but I tolerated it. Meanwhile it was my 14yo's favorite moment of the movie. So I'll take it.

Snap feeling on where it is in the rankings:
Spoiler:
Quote:
Top Tier:
1. Captain America: Winter Soldier
<--- Spider-Man : Into the Spider-Verse would go here
2. Black Panther
3. Avengers: Infinity War
4. Avengers: Endgame
5. Avengers
6. Guardians of the Galaxy
7. Captain America: Civil War

Middle Tier:
8. Thor: Ragnorak
9. Spider-Man: Homecoming
10. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
11. Thor
12. Captain Marvel
13. Iron Man
14. Captain America
15. Avengers Age of Ultron

Not-really-very-good Tier:
16. Ant-Man
17. Dr. Strange
18. Ant-Man and the Wasp
19. Thor the Dark World
20. Iron Man 3

Fuck-this-movie Tier:
21: Iron Man 2 (edited)

This is an all spoilers thread, right? I'm not going to hide anything.

Likes: Retired NFL lineman Thor; Antman stole every scene he was in; Rescue (I really just like when they add characters. Not that she was necessary at all); A sufficiently heroic plot which concluded in a battle that felt like the supers we're genuinely going to lose again; Iron man's funeral was well done.

Dislikes: Over the top emo Ronin; The clumsy girl-power moment in the final battle; The fact that the Sorcerer Supreme was taken out of the fight because he couldn't make a portal to divert all the water into a Thanos hose.

I really liked the movie, and I felt like it was a fitting end to a decade of mostly good movies.

Loved it. They got so much right that I have much less to say than about GoT.

The thing I didn't like about the "girl power" moment is I don't think Captain Marvel would have *needed* any help getting across the battle field with the stones. I thought it was a pretty great moment other than that.

As a matter of fact I loved it when Carol came in from space and absolutely decimated Thanos' ship. Big fan of that character.

When Strange and friends are bringing all the heroes through the portals, there was a kid in my theater yelling out "There's Black Panther!" "There's Spiderman!" It was great.

Agree that the girl-power moment felt clumsy. It felt forced, just like playing "Just a Girl" in the climactic moment of Captain marvel was ham handed. But as a dad of girls, I'm grateful that they actually want to see these movies, and I like that they get to see the women kick ass. Again, it felt forced, I guess I'm saying forced is better than absent.

My 12yo legit cried at Widow's death. (full disclosure, I did too, that was a great scene). But she's a sesnitive kid and needed some role models to help save the day and not get lost in the shuffle.

For the record, I liked Rescue, too. Pepper Potts is no housewife, she's Tony Staork's life partner. Of course she'd put on the suit and not watch the whole thing from helicopter footage back home. I also like new characters.

Excited about Falcap.

Liked it didn't love it. I thought all of the Captain Marvel stuff including her movie felt tacked on. Thor could've killed the space ship or the girl squad led by pepper potts.

Why did they introduce her with long hair then give her a hair cut? stupid. then she leaves and deus ex machinas and leaves again. zero point to her character.

Overall a fitting and good ending to the series (they have like 20 films planned between now and 2028):

Likes:
- The final battle* + the return of all the heroes
- Most of the time traveling stuff**
- Fat Thor and Bruce x Hulk
- The Thanos death in the first 15 minutes
- Comedic timing, they are getting really good at it

Dislikes:
- Time travel kinda sucks in general as a plot device
- * The girl power scene. How was that logistically possible, if a dude had jumped in would they politely asked him to leave? Also, captain marvel just made swiss cheese of a giant space ship, does she need ladies with no superpowers to escort her?
- ** The time-traveling bit went way too long. Tony Stark had a whole ass long conversation with his Dad, while Cap also saw his long lost love?
- How the f*ck is the brown van around when they need it?
- It was long and I felt it, like "Lord of the Rings how is this not over yet" long
- Bruce x Hulk not actually doing that much, after Infinite War I really wanted some Hulk action

Yeah I forgot about that. I was hoping for an extra Savage Hulk after the last movie. Instead we got Dead Poet Society Hulk.

idk man, when Thanos' ship started frantically firing at the sky and got chills. That was badass. I'm a fan of the Captain Marvel character in the comics and they do well with her in the movies. I think if they had gotten ride of the Charge of the Fem Brigade, all of that would have been fine. I accept that Thor didn't have time to take out the ship because he was too busy trying to kill Thanos.

The hair thing is a nod for the comics fans. It's a "controversy", whether Danvers should have shoulder-length hair, short hair, or a mohawk. I am indifferent on the whole thing. Captain Marvel has a vocal following (the "Carol Corps" they call themselves) and they are in direct conflict with the Gamergate/Comicsgate assholes, so I already like them a little.

My big feels moments (either sad or thrilled):

- When I saw the Red Skull and realzied that someone was going to have to die.
- The goodbye scene betwen Hawkeye and Widow.
- Captain America picking up the hammer. I should have known, but it was a surprise.
- "Yeah, but I'm Iron Man"
- Doctor Strange's silent "one" to Tony.
- Black Panther's return.
- Loki's escape
- The elevator scene echoing my fav MCU movie, Winter Soldier. and Cap's "Hail Hydra"
- All the daughter moments. Seriously, what's with all the daughters. Lila Barton, Cassidy Lang, Morgan Stark, Gamorra, Nebula. Lotsa daughters.
- Thanos' ship trying to stop Danvers before she broke orbit.
- "Engage instant kill"
- Cap's dance with Peggy.
- the passing of the shield.

Did we talk about the random teenager at the back of the Ironman funeral? Had to look him up. He was the kid sidekick in Ironman 3. I never saw it.

you didn't miss much. It was a Iron Suit-less Tony Stark in a James Bond movie. I also had to look up that kid.

We had to google him, too.

Stella saw Iron man 3. She insists it's worthwhile, if only to see more Marvel movies.
