I read this book last year and really enjoyed it. It has a strong firefly vibe; a space opera with well thought out characters and enough intrigue to keep you hooked. The relationships are believable and while you're focused in on everything happening on this little ship the author does a good job at fleshing out the world as well. Recommend!

I'm posting about it now because I'm now reading the 2nd book in the series, A Close and Common Orbit. It's slower but reminds me a lot of the Murderbot stories. It goes deep into AI, and even does a few new things with it, which is hard to do nowadays. I'll post more when I've finished it.

I read this book, too. I remember being lukewarm on it. There was something that bugged me but I can't remember what that was.

Murderbot-ishness would bring me back for the sequel.

I finished the sequel. It's similar to murderbot in that it is told from the perspective of a sentient AI. Good book, albeit a little slow.
